Passport To The World

This definition is exactly how we can define Hens Maas, alumna from Hotelschool The Hague in 1992. With a broad path in the hospitality industry, Hens Maas worked for 8 year in the intercontinental group in Spain. Afterwards she fell in love with the Peruvian culture and decided to move to Peru where she worked in two different independent owned properties. She is currently the general manager of The Foresta Hotel in Lima, Peru. Her ultimate goal was to upgrade the hotel from a 3-star to a 4-star property that successfully was achieved, with passion and teamwork.

She felt she learnt the basis in a renowned hotel chain such as Intercontinental group. After this Hens Mass felt empowered to join independent hotels, the reason to this change is the freedom this gives her in a decision-making level as well as she wanted to tailor her own organization. She felt difficulties when coming to these hotels, where she had to implement department such as revenue management, in order to optimize the revenue of the hotel. In addition, she is currently working in employee training and development programs, in order to engage and empower its organisation.

Lastly, She encouraged all the students to reach their goals and stay in the hospitality industry. Hens Maas welcomed everybody into her hotel with enthusiasm, with a welcome cocktail, where students were able to taste some Peruvian flavours. It was great getting to know her team in a hospitable atmosphere. The cocktail was followed by a delicious dinner, where, of course the Peruvian flavours could not be missed. The Chef, Piero Revoredo, cooked with Peruvian ingredients such as the ajis, quinoa and chirimoya.
