Con't She Learned
“Oh Yeah, and do what with it? Taylor everybody knows that you ain’t giving up no snappy nappy! Girl please stop with the madness.”
Kendall laughs. I give her a sarcastic, rolling eye smile. I stand up, swing my hair, raise my hands and arms in the air. I make my waist and breast body roll biting my lip.
“Yeah but that one right there, him, he can get it. Any time and any place! You'll see just watch! I'm going to get that. So, Ce Lo is it huh? Yeah Okay, you got it, you got it that's for damn sure. Humph!”
Some guy slides behind me trying to ride the wave. I dance with him a bit until I feel a slight poke. I turn to him.
“What's up you good?”
My small talk ain't meant as an invitation but it sure does sound like it.
“Yeah baby real good. You fine as fuck. Let me taste that shawty. That thing wet ain't it?” These gentlemen... I tell you. I turn on my super sweet freak. “Yeah baby...Kitty moist, slippery, monsoon wet. But since you are standing here drowning in sweat, you clearly can't handle that. Shitttttt you need a life jacket but I'll see you on the green and when I do, I'll holla. Be easy baby.”
“Come on baby, can't a nigga from 'The Well' get a chance.”
“Suga you'll look back on this very moment in the years to come and you will think me. This..... ain't what you want, you'll fuck around and be late or miss out on life fucking with this. But I'll holla.”
I took my seat as he stands hard in disbelief. Unbothered my eyes reassume position back to attend to Ce-Lo.
“Girl you a bad bitch” Kendall laughs.
I couldn't seem to get him off of my mind nor out of my sights. My eyes kept running to him throughout the night. He didn't mind as it seemed that we both looked to each other at the same time eye gazing. I did not leave my seat for the whole first part of the showcase so right before intermission and minutes before the restrooms got packed, I really needed to go. I made a run for it.
I dashed into the restroom because I wanted to miss as little of the show and Ce Lo as possible. Quickly I took care of my business, washed my hands,
checked the mirror and raced out of the restroom. Wham Bam, Wow, it happens again. My body betrays me twice in one night. Yet again, I am frozen dead in my steps. It is him! It's Ce-Lo and he is standing right there looking at me all dressed up in a smile. Oh My God he is walking over here.
“Hi” I respond with a grin.
“My you have a beautiful smile. What's your name love?”
“Thank you. I'm T...., my name is Taylor, Taylor.” I respond now he smiles.
“Nice to meet you Taylor. Are you from Craigsville?”
“I’m a rising Junior.” Shit it sounded better than SOFT ASS Sophomore, a minute after FRESH MEAT Freshmen.
As soon as the words escape my mouth I think to myself “You big dummy! Ain't nobody asked you none of that moron, keep it together! Taylor breathe girl breathe. What is wrong with you?"
“And yes, I'm from Craigsville.”
“Okay, I'm a senior. My name is Marcellios but my friends call me Ce Lo.” as he extends his hand towards me.
I reach my hand out and instead of him shaking mine, he just takes hold of it and lowers it to his side like we are an item or something. I like the cool cocky type.
I am about to pass the hell out. My legs are locked. I'm stuck in cement. I'm lightheaded and loopy and can do nothing but smile. A damn kool-aid smile at that. Skinning and grinning like some fresh fool. This is not like me, not at all. I am never taken back by any man, not fazed, not a single bit. I have seen and been seen by some of the fiercest but this man right here! He possess something else. Something more than looks, something he owns that is uniquely different. Something that all those fiercest others were not
