Dear Garuda Indonesia customers,
For this edition, I would like to
present something special for all
customers of the Garuda Indonesia
Group, loyal readers of Colours
magazine, and members of the
Garuda Indonesia Group family.
In the 12 months since being
appointed by shareholders, this is the
first time I have written an article as a
tribute to our one-year progress at
Garuda Indonesia, which I dedicate to
you, the Garuda Indonesia customers,
and the extended family of the
Garuda Indonesia Group.
Time passes without us noticing, but
we all know that ‘time’ leaves behind
an eternal meaning in its every step
and it will never again return.
The habit of sharing stories with family
at the dinner table, exchanging ideas,
and listening to complaints and positive
stories from the different viewpoints of
people from all tiers, paying first-hand
attention to all input from customers,
and listening to the dreams of some of
life’s warriors may sound simple but it
is a source of inspiration and
encouragement in helping to find our
own meaning in life: something that
cannot be replaced by emoticons,
emojis, or other artificial digital
features, at least for now.
Stop for a moment, and take time
to look carefully at how much we
have done for others, and it will
become clear how important it is
in understanding the various
changes taking place.

This lifelong commitment to
‘understanding time’ has also been
implemented in this year’s dedication
to moving forward together and
leading the momentum of change.
In some instances, it is of course not
easy to understand fundamental
change, nor is it easy for everyone to
accept, but I believe that ‘time’ once
again will help us achieve something
that is surely positive for all.
I remember the Javanese saying,
“Wani ngalah luhur wekasane,” which
means “a person who concedes will
be honoured at a later time”.
Garuda Indonesia has made and
will continue to make numerous
changes to achieve a better and more
sustainable performance and service
in order to create the New Normal,
such as the introduction of the New
Flight Experience through GIAcoustic,
CEO Serve on Board, Voice Command
and Virtual Assistant features on the
Garuda Indonesia GIA Mobile app,
the appearance of several popular
food brands on the inflight menu; as
well as the various new business
models of the Garuda Indonesia Group
that have successfully contributed to
the company achieving a positive
performance amidst the increasing
pressures of the aviation industry.
In addition, we have laid important
foundations for the company
management system by promoting the
value of employees as family members
and the most important company
asset, while at the same time
implementing a more dynamic and
agile work culture for employees.
As we complete this year-long journey,
we would like to thank all employees
and customers of the Garuda Indonesia
Group for your support and loyalty as
valuable assets of the company, and
invite you to continue pushing forward
together towards ‘a better place.’
It is true, time cannot be repeated, nor
can we ask for it to return. But time is
always there in front of us, asking us to
give something meaningful that it can
store in the album of our lives, where it
will forever remain.
Finally, on behalf of all the team of
directors and management, I thank
you all for continuing to fly with
Garuda Indonesia, the pride of the
nation and of us all.
