Lightstorm
Sometimes when you chase storms,
you have to aim your camera and hope to
get lucky. That’s the unpredictable nature
of nature. On this day in western Kansas,
I had been chasing storms, and as they
were dying out at sunset, I was about to
give up. But then I saw this cluster of trees
by themselves against a sky that was
beginning to turn orange from the setting
sun. I had no hope of getting any
lightning as I hadn’t seen many bolts, but
I decided to compose a shot and hope for
the best. And then this happened. Luck
wins the day.
Kadang ketika Anda mengejar badai,
Anda harus membidikkan kamera Anda
dan menunggu keberuntungan. Itulah
sifat alam yang tak terduga. Hari itu, di
Kansas Barat, saya sudah seharian
mengejar badai, dan saya hendak
menyerah ketika badai mulai melemah
saat matahari terbenam. Tapi kemudian
saya melihat pepohonan ini berdiri sendiri
menghadap langit yang mulai berubah
jingga karena matahari terbenam. Saya
tidak berharap akan mendapatkan petir
karena saya tidak melihat banyak kilat,
tapi saya memutuskan untuk memotret
dan berharap yang terbaik. Dan kemudian
ini terjadi. Hari keberuntungan.
