Lifestyle 59 THE PROFESSOR, THE INSPIRATION Mention the name Alain Marie Pascal Prost, and audiences remember him as the biggest rival of the late Ayrton Senna da Silva in Formula One, especially when they were both racing for the McLaren team. The French four-time F1 world champion (1985, 1986, 1989 and 1993) is dubbed The Professor because of his technical approach to the character of circuits. Regardless of the intensity of their competitiveness, Prost was a pallbearer for Senna, who passed away at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. He was also chosen as a protector of the social institution established by the Senna family to commemorate the driver, who hailed from Brazil. Prost displayed great aptitude as a sportsman from his youth, in areas such as soccer, gymnastics and wrestling, to single-seater racing beginning with karting and later on continuing in F1. He was appointed as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his winning performance in the 1993 Australian Grand Prix. Outside of his activities as a driver, Prost also cycled in the amateur class in order to enliven the 1990 Tour de France, where he ranked 15 th . Afterwards, in 2002 he joined La Granite Mont Lozère cycling championship, and he took part in car racing on ice, Trophée Andros, in 2003–2012. His other racing activities included the Race of Champions in 2010, which matched the champions of motorsport on two and four wheels. In 2012–2014, he participated in the Cape Epic 700km mountain bike race in South Africa, which was completed over eight days. Prost’s spirit of sportsmanship and fitness is the inspiration behind the creation of the RM 70-01 Tourbillon Alain Prost. Penyandang gelar juara dunia F1 empat kali asal Prancis ini (1985, 1986, 1989 dan 1993) dijuluki sebagai The Professor karena teknik pendekatannya terhadap karakter sirkuit. Terlepas dari tingginya unsur kompetisi mereka, Prost menjadi pengusung peti jenazah Senna saat wafat di GP San Marino 1994, juga ditunjuk sebagai pelindung lembaga sosial yang didirikan keluarga Senna untuk mengenang pembalap asal Brasil itu. Prost menunjukkan bakatnya sebagai olahragawan sejak belia, dengan menekuni sepakbola, gym dan gulat, sampai menjajal balap single seater yang diawali dari karting dan bermuara di F1.
