Enjoy an easy walk while looking and listening for birds. Learn how to identify the birds in our area and discover their behaviors and preferred habitats. These walks are great for first-time or experienced birdwatchers. Location: Lake Benson Park or White Deer Park Nature Center

Crafty by Nature
Spend a creative evening with other adults and make your own seasonal decor. Participants will work on one to two crafts per session with materials provided. Location: White Deer Park Nature Center

Fishing Frenzy
Winter Waterfowl Workshop

One of the highlights of winter is the arrival of migrating waterfowl at local lakes and ponds! Learn how to identify the various types of ducks, geese, and other species of birds that visit each winter. Field marks, behavior, and more will be covered during a presentation at the Nature Center, followed by a field trip to Lake Benson Park to test those new ID skills. This program is for beginner birders as well as experienced birders looking to refresh their winter waterfowl knowledge. Location: White Deer Park Classroom

Cast a line and join the fun at Lake Benson Boathouse. Enjoy a relaxing morning of hour-long self-guided fishing. Need gear? We’ ve got loaner equipment available upon request. Feeling competitive? The angler who reels in the biggest fish each hour will win a prize! Don’ t forget, anyone 16 or older must have a valid NC fishing license to participate. Location: Lake Benson Boathouse
