The most anticipated conference of E3, The Sony Conference. I might be biased about Sony, but for me they have had the best E3 presentations in the last few years.
This year was no different, Sony started strong with their own orchestra that played throughout the whole conference. The man leading the orchestra was, Bear McCreary, the composer for the game that was first presented, God
of War (God of War 4). Amazing, they brought back
Kratos as a father and this time fighting against the
Nordic Gods. The graphics and visuals look better than
ever. Sony did one better with a gameplay trailer of the
game right there at the start. The trailer showed the complex emotions plaguing Kratos as he interacts with his son. Trying to confort him but at the same time trying to raise him strong. This game is a win all the way!
Then we started getting bombarded with trailer after trailer of awesome games. The first trailer after GoW was Days Gone, another apocalyptic zombie game. The game had an incredible cinematic trailer that was then complemented with a gameplay showcase at the end of Sony's presentation solidifying that this game will in fact be a contender once released. The game was not that amazing at first but that gameplay showcase really made me feel like the game is in fact a win.
Without missing a beat, we continued of to another trailer of The Last Guardian. This
game was also showcased last year and left quite the
impression on a lot of gamers. This time around we got a
bit more information on the game and a release date of
October 25th. Although the trailer was short, the audience
really enjoyed it and showed love for the release date coming up so soon this year. Another win!
Then quickly after we got another cinematic and gameplay trailer of Horizon Zero Dawn. This was another game that was showcased last year and got a lot of positive feedback. In my opinion, this game is one of the most original games in the last couple of years. Having a primitive and also post-modern setting on the same game. For those reasons this game for me was one of the ones I wanted to see. The art style and fluidity of the game make it look really enjoyable. They showed a bit of the map and the liberty of the open world setting of the game. Win once again!
