FAULKNER LEADS MMJHL
PLAYERS IN DECEMBER
A player that many players in the
Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League
believes is the best, if not the toughest
player in the league, earned his just
rewards in early January.
Chase Faulkner of the Stonewall
Jets was named MMJHL Player of the
Month for December after scoring seven
goals and 11 points in seven games
during the month.
Meanwhile, Ryan Hall of the
Charleswood Hawks went 4-0-0 in
December and was named goaltender of
the month. Hall gave up only five goals
in 125 shots (a save percentage of .958)
and had an eye popping goals against
average of 1.24.
The great Nico Gravel of the Transcona
Railer Express was Defenseman of
the Month. Last season’s MMJHL
Defenseman of the Year had two goals
and nine points in six games.
And the Rookie of the Month was
Kevin Lamb of the St. Vital Victorias.
Lamb had three goals and seven points
in six games.

MJHL PLAYERS OF THE MONTH
Keaton Jameson of the Swan Valley
Stampeders was named the MJHL
Player of the Month for December.
The 20-year-old forward had six goals
and 17 points in 10 games. A Brandon
product, Jameson had 15 goals and 42
points in his team’s first 39 games. The
runners up were 20-year-old forward
Braden Purtill of the Steinbach Pistons
and 19-year-old forward Nathan
Halvorsen of the Selkirk Steelers.
The Defenseman of the Month
was 6-foot-2, 200-pound Riley
Shamray, then of the Dauphin Kings.
Since then, the 19-year-old from
Oak River has been traded to the
OCN Blizzard. In December, he had
three goals and 10 points (3-7) in 10
games. The runners up were 19-year-
old Darby Gula of the Steinbach
Pistons and 20-year-old Mackenzie
Dwyer of the Portage Terriers.
The Goaltender of the Month was
the outstanding young netminder
Matthew Thiessen of the Steinbach
Pistons. Thiessen, 18, was outstanding
in December. He went 7-0-0 with
one shutout. Over the seven game
stretch in December his GAA was
1.69 with a save percentage of .934.
A native of Altona, Thiessen recently
committed to University of Maine.
The runners up were 18-year-old
Matthew Radomsky of the Steinbach
Pistons and 20-year-old Hayden
Dola of the Selkirk Steelers.
The Rookie of the Month was
goaltender Zachary Bennett of the
Selkirk Steelers. Bennett, 17, put
together a 4-2 record in December
with a 2.50 GAA and .924 save
percentage. He hails from Winnipeg
and was recently acquired by
Selkirk from the Portage Terriers.
The runners up were 17-year-
old forward Codey Behun of the
Winnipeg Blues and 18-year old
defenseman Jayden Wojciechhowski
of the Virden Oil Capitals.
And the Peak Performer of the
Month for December was Matthew
Radomsky of the Steinbach Pistons.
The 18-year-old goaltender works
tirelessly as a community volunteer
and for two years has mentored a
young Steinbach goaltender, Aiden
Crawford, who plays on the Pee Wee
C team. Matthew, who hails from
Winnipeg, also works with Aiden’s
younger brother who is a goalie on
the novice team and assists with
the Pee Wee A goalies. Matthew has
spoken to students at a number of
area schools including Landmark,
New Bothwell and Blumenort.
Over the holiday season, Matt
volunteered at the SouthEast Helping
Hands food bank packing Christmas
food hampers. Matt has made a
tremendous impact in the community
and has used his platform as an MJHL
player in a very beneficial way.
