points. It’ s too bad we had to let him go elsewhere, but it was a deal
that worked well for both teams.”
Last season in Portage, Wowryk had the chance to do something
that he had always dreamed of – winning the MJHL championship.
And as he tells, it was the opportunity of a lifetime. However, there
was more to the season than just the end result.
“ It was basically like a dream how we ended up winning the
league,” Wowryk said.“ That was something that I’ ve always wanted
to do in my junior career. I won a ring and got to know a great group
of guys from all around North America. It was actually really nice to
play with such a diverse team. We had guys from the States, British
Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.”
It’ s a good thing that Wowryk does so well at building relationships
because he had to start all over again in early November, when he
received word that he |
would be packing his bags and |
|||
heading |
back |
to |
Winnipeg, via trade. |
|
“ I was actually |
just getting off the ice at |
|||
practice |
when |
Blake called me into his |
||
office,” Wowryk |
said.“ I wasn’ t thinking |
|||
anything of it, |
but once I sat down he |
|||
told me I was |
traded to the Blues. I |
|||
totally |
didn’ t |
expect that, and was |
||
quite shocked |
when it happened |
|||
, |
but |
