points. It’ s too bad we had to let him go elsewhere, but it was a deal
that worked well for both teams.”
Last season in Portage, Wowryk had the chance to do something
that he had always dreamed of – winning the MJHL championship.
And as he tells, it was the opportunity of a lifetime. However, there
was more to the season than just the end result.

league,” Wowryk said.“ That was something that I’ ve always wanted
to do in my junior career. I won a ring and got to know a great group
of guys from all around North America. It was actually really nice to
play with such a diverse team. We had guys from the States, British

Since breaking into the MJHL with Selkirk in 2013-14, the 20-yearold has improved statistically every season. His 24 goals and 41 assists last year placed him eighth in league scoring – producing at more than a point-per-game rate. His work ethic and hockey smarts were on full display while in Portage and it had his former coach singing praises.
“ Adam Wowryk was a really good fit for us,” Spiller said.“ We acquired him early last season from Selkirk, and that deal really paid off for us. Adam is just a solid guy that goes about his business and keeps putting up
