The lines continue to the present day as can be seen on the chart, but for the moment let’s stop
here and take note of KIERSTEN. When Kiersten married Gudmund Nilsson about whom more
will soon be said, the lines of the Male and Female ancestries of Carl Gustav met and united.
See the first figures in the Male ancestry line.
So now let’s look at Gudmund Nilsson who married Kiersten of Angas in 1766 :
ANGAS ESTATE
This time we are taken back to 1557 to a large and beautiful estate, ANGAS ESTATE
(FROLUNDA) which was presented by Gustaf Vasa, King of Sweden, to GUSTAV OLSSON
(Stenbock) governor of ALVSBORG CASTLE, in honour and appreciation of services rendered in
the country’s defence.
GUSTAF OLSSON is referred to as an ancestor of Engelbrekt and hence to his son Jacob then on
to his daughter Kiersten. No lines of descent are described; was he from his mother
Margareta’s side or from the unnamed father’s side of the family?
As a matter of historical interest I have include some information on Old Alvsborg Fortress

As I said, this castle was not owned by but was governed by an ancestor.
Although the Castle is in ruins, what is still left in part and can be seen by anyone who chooses
to visit today is ANGAS ESTATE which, if you remember, was the gift given by King Gustav Vasa
of Sweden to Governor Gustaf Olsson in appreciation.
* see Appendix 3 at the end of PART 1
Although we don’t know how the ancestry came about, it has been established that Gustav
Olsson was an ancestor of Engelbrekt and hence of his son JACOB ANDERSSON (1717). And
Kiersten, his daughter, was known as KIERSTEN of ANGAS (1744-1781) which states she lived
there. Remember, the gift had been given in 1557, so it was nearly 200 years before Kiersten’s
birth in 1744.
KIERSTEN married GUDMUMD NILSSON of Donso in 1766.
When you realise that this couple were in later life to become the great-grandparents of our
famous CARL GUSTAV ANDERSSON it perhaps becomes more relevant. As you can see on the
chart KIERSTEN comes from his Mother’s ancestry and GUDMUND from his Father’s ancestry.
I don’t think it’s too fanciful to assume that GUSTAV OLSSON as governor of Aylsborg Castle
was at least an associate of KING VASA.
Is there any connection between him and the King of Norway at the time that Hartvig
HVITFELDT married the ‘lady of royal birth’?
If ENGELBREKT ANDERSSON was a descendant of OLSSON then his mother MARGARETA
might also have been a descendant. The Million Dollar questions are :
