elebrating a decade in any
endeavour is admirable,
but a decade committed to
overclocking and live competitions
is remarkable. In 2018, GALAX
celebrated just that, a decade of the
GALAX Overclocking Competition
or better known as GOC.
It’s hard to imagine but it’s been
ten years since the very first GOC
and each successive year has
brought with it new overclockers,
familiar faces, better components
and higher scores. As you’d expect,
GALAX partners were at the
event, including representatives
from INTEL, NVIDIA, Starfish,
Thermaltake and Super Flower.
UL was well represented as
well as GOC 2018 would be the
first time 3DMark Port Royal would
be revealed to the public.
Before competitors got to this

point, qualifying for this competition
was done in the traditional manner
over a series of qualifying stages. 12
winners of these stages were then
selected as they would not only have
an opportunity to compete against
each other in a live environment,
but would also share the stage with
eight of the previous GOC winners.
As you’d expected this led to a
deep field with a large number of
overclockers each with a real shot of
winning the competition. This line-up
featured OGS and Phil from Greece,
Wizerty and Ziken from France,
noliso, Bullshooter and Dancop
from Germany, Lucky_n00b and
IvanCupa from Indonesia, Littleboy
from South Korea, DrWeez from
South Africa, ZeR0_Dan from China,
iKKi and dogna from Japan, bob
(nz) from Australia, Stephen Yeong
from Hong Kong, Alex@ro from
