began promoting the brand this year,
so it isn't available worldwide yet
but we are working on distribution.
Neo: Are there any gaming
teams that you are sponsoring
and how are they performing?
EC: We are sponsoring one
Chinese team as well as an all-
girls team in Hong Kong, but
that's all at the moment.
Neo: Are you still going to be in
the SSD business? Are they still
going to be continued and if so,
will they still be under the Hall of
Fame brand or the gaming brand?
EC: We're actually doing very well
with SSDs in China. In other regions
we're still selling but not in very
large quantities. We have more HOF
branded SSDs coming in the future.
We are a very close partner with
Phison and our next HOF SSDs will
be using their newest controller,
which will be released very soon and
you will see it as this year's GOC.
Neo: If you personally had to tell
us who your closest competitor is
in terms of graphics cards that you
respect and that inspire you to guys
to make even better products?
EC: When it comes to overclocking
I would have to say K|ngp|n. He's
a very respectable overclockable,
and with every generation we EVGA
and GALAX have been in very close
competition. In China we have a
saying that one chopstick cannot
make noise, or that there is strength
in a crowd - two people together
might be able to achieve something
that one person can't achieve on
their own - so if you're the only
person that overclocks there will be
no noise about it. Asus also focusing
quite heavily on overclocking
graphics cards. We hope that these
two vendors and maybe MSI or
Gigabyte will still put resources
towards overclocking and we can
compete with one another. We are
happier with more competition.
Neo: In terms of the competition
between AMD and NVIDIA, do you
think that it would be better for
NVIDIA and subsequently for you
as a partner if AMD was more
competitive or do you think it
wouldn't make much difference?
EC: We like competition. If AMD
performed better, we would see
cheaper costs to us. NVIDIA would
also treat us better if AMD was
stronger. If a consumer has more
choices there might be more reason
to buy new graphics cards. There's
little reason to rush out and buy an
expensive RTX 2080 right now. We
heard that AMD's new cards will
only come out after 019Q1, so they
there are still another four or five
months without competition from
AMD which leads to higher prices.
Neo: Do you think in the
future you'd consider making
all in one coolers, power
supplies, or anything else?
We've made PSUs in the past (the
Hall of Fame 1200w), but the PSU
market is a very tough business.
In China it is very common to over-
rate a PSU, for example selling
a 200w unit as 400w. We want to
be honest, but by doing so it isn't
worth it for us. Personally, I like
the idea of AIO coolers, but it will
depend on our sales team. They are
quite conservative, and don't even
want to do AIO graphics cards.
Neo: Is there anything
you'd like to share with
people while I'm here?
EC: I would like to thank you
for coming all the way from
South Africa to do an interview
and some overclocking, and we
really appreciate people like
you that keep on working and
promoting overclocking.
