FOREWORD FROM THE EDITOR
GAELIC SPORTS WORLD
PUBLISHER:
It is said that you’re only young once. That
the days of youth are cherished more than
most others. Well, that might ring true in our
main story in this Edition 5 of Gaelic Sports
World, as we follow the adventure of a bunch
of young New Yorkers to Ireland to compete
in a National GAA Youth Tournament – Féile
Peil na nÓg.
The U14 Girls New York team travelled
across to the West of Ireland to compete in
the renowned Irish Youth tournament at the
end of June. They were hosted by local GAA
clubs and housed with local families and over
the course of three days forged friendships
and local support the young players are
never likely to forget. They lifted a trophy in
the end of it all and showed those on the
Irish side of the Atlantic a thing or two about
GAA prowess. The Boys U14’s didn’t do too
badly either. London GAA tell a similar tale of
unexpected joy.
This edition also features a new monthly
series on ‘Business and the GAA’ beginning
with a certain US Country singer and a
certain Irish stadium, and how the ensuing
debacle even had the White House scurrying
for cover.
