The finals will be held over one day and takes place at the six-field sports complex of the Rudolf Tonn Stadium. The Vienna Gaels hosted a round of the European GAA Football Championships back in 2012 but they have never held the finals round and as such is a great honour for the club. The Men’s & Ladies Football championships is an 11 a-side format and held over two rounds with points accumulated after Round 1 with the teams with the most points after the finals in Vienna declared winners. The competitions will be in men’s senior, intermediate and junior while for the ladies it will be senior championship and shield. MEN’S COMPETITION FORMATS In the men’s grades, there are 4 men’s teams entered into the Senior A with some others who had made it through from Galicia not able to attend. The bottom teams from Round 1 in Galicia are ranked into Junior A and B, a total of 7 teams, while the 12 middle teams will go into Senior B and intermediate competitions. MEN’S SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP Senior A grade teams are Amsterdam and Paris A on 20 points each, A Estrada on 16 and Belgium 13. land – the system in Europe allows this – but compensates for fairness in that they deduct five points. Amsterdam though will probably start as favourites as they won the Premier 15 a-side European Championship this year and just failed to progress in the Leinster Junior Football Championship last weekend (see report below). Paris are always tough to beat and the same can be said for Belgium who have been in goof form in the past number of years in Europe. The Galician side Irmandinhos did very well beating Belgium into third in Round 1 and could be a dark-horse. LADIES SENIOR Amsterdam though they won Round 1 of the championship in Galicia, and should have been on 25 points as a result, but because they played a weekend player from Ire- 8 Playing in a 9 a-side format in the Ladies Championship, there are 10 teams with 6 new sides in action. The top teams
