BRITAIN SEPTEMBER 17, LONDON CLOSING STAGES, COGGINS STEPS DOWN AND NEW BRITISH ARMY TEAM There was plenty of news both on and off the field in London GAA circles last weekend and early this week. We moved that bit closer to knowing this year’s finalists in many of the London GAA championships, while off the field London senior football manager Paul Coggins stepped down in his role, and perhaps the biggest news item and certainly an historic one, was the decision to allow a British Army team compete next year. SENIOR FOOTBALL & HURLING The 8 team senior football championship reached the end of the group stages last weekend with four sides advancing to the semi-finals. In the final round 3 of the group stages on Saturday last, defending senior champions Tir Chonaill Gaels had a facile 1-21 to 0-12 over Neasden Gaels, St. Kiernans did likewise against Round Towers on 3-16 to 2-2. The following day saw Kingdom Kerry Gaels get past Parnells on a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-10, while last year’s runners-up Fulham Irish took care of North London Shamrocks by 3-18 to 0-6. The results see the winners into the Paul Coggins stepped down this week from his role as London senior football manager. Photo GAA Facebook. 19
