TACOMA, WASHINGTON STATE APRIL 7, 2015 EVERYONE’S A WINNER IN THE NORTHWEST HUDD WILKINS REPORTING The Cascade Northwest GAA League got underway last weekend in Tacoma, Washington, and in breaking from traditional norms, it wasn’t about who won what as every team got something out of the tournament. The Tacoma Rangers, a new club formed two years ago, were the hosts of the opening round of the Cascade League in both Hurling and Gaelic Football at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood, in the Hurling action in the Cascade League at Tacoma, Washington State. (Photo: Tacoma Rangers GAA Club.) suburbs of Tacoma. The young club hosted their first Hurling tournament last August and a Football tournament two weeks later. This time around both codes were on the ticket with 6 hurling teams and 3 football sides making it the biggest GAA event to date in the Tacoma region. On Saturday March 28th, two fields were set up, one an almost full sized pitch for 13 a side and a smaller field for junior’s matches involving newer players from the participating clubs. 28 The Montana Grizzlies in their first appearance in the competition last year took two of the tournaments that they entered in and later went on to glory in the 2015 colleges NCGAA National Hurling Championship. This season the Grizzlies look even stronger. But the crew in Montana are keen also to develop hurling at their college, the University of Montana in Missoula, and formed a junior side to compete in the Tacoma tournament. The teams involved in the Hurling section at Tacoma were
