ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA FEBRUARY 17, 2015 BLUES AND BRENDANS FINISH TOP IN SOUTH OZ The final round of the South Australia GAA Sate League took place last weekend at St. Mary’s Park with the results finalizing who lost out and who made it through to this year’s semi-finals in Adelaide. The beginning of the month saw Round 13 of the Men’s and Ladies seven team leagues take place with sides locked in fierce competition to make the top four and the semi-final places for this coming weekend. In the Ladies League, Onkaparinga had jumped ahead of defending champions the Blues with Flinders O’Neill in third and Na Fianna in fourth and those four were set to advance. In the Men’s event, St. Brendan’s had extended their lead to four points over second placed Western Ireland, while last year’s champions Onkaparinga were in third, Port Districts next but followed closely by Na Fianna for the final fourth spot. On Friday Feb 6, in two men’s games, Western Ireland maintained their second place with a five point win over Port 40 Districts, while St. Brendan’s franked recent form when they were far too strong for Onkas. On the Sunday in the men’s league bottom of the table Irish Australians proved a surprise packet once again when beating Na Fianna by two points and dealing a major blow to the latter’s qualification hopes.
