THUS SPRACHE HURLING!

Well, das war ein
tolles Wochenende.
Das erste mal war die
ganze Dresdner Hurling
Mannschaft zusammen
für ein Spiel auf dem
feld. Hervorragend!!!
On a momentous and balmy day
in the month of May , men from the
four corners of Ireland flew in to
Dresden, to play for the first time a
hurling match in Deutschland. All
hurling men, they hailed from the
counties of Westmeath, Donegal,
Carlow, Kerry, Dublin, Mayo and
Sligo. Summoned together by former Dresden Hurler, Frank Doyle,
and calling themselves St. Patrick’s,
they provided the opposition for
what turned out to be an epic battle
at the Sportpark Ostragehege.
The scene was Dresden Gaa
Club’s first home game and will
go down as possibly the first hurling game to be played in the former East German city. For the record, the Dresden ranks consisted
of hurlers hailing from Germany,
Finland, Canada, England, Clare,
Cork, Kilkenny, Galway, Antrim,
Meath and Dublin. There were
