G3 Magazine/Reviews/Lego The Hobbit L ego the Hobbit is a follow up to LEGO the Lord of the Rings based on the first two films: An unexpected journey and the desolation of Smaug. Lego the Hobbit is very similar to the Lego Movie game. Except in this game you have to mine for wooden objects and crystal objects to build. Players will also be able to discover loot from enemies, craft powerful magical items or build immense new Lego structures. Lego the Hobbit is true to the Lego video game franchise. Several features are the same as in the previous Lego games. For example; the player need to search for specific materials to build a big Lego object. There are a wide variety of character abilities, for example archery, having a hammer to move large objects or the ability to extract minerals from stone. 44 G3 Magazine Playable characters consist out of Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey. Alongside the dwarves: Thorin, Fíli, Kíli, Oíli, Glóin, Dwalin, Balin, Bifur, Bofur, Bambur, Dori, Nori, and Ori. Bilbo is able to progress through the entire game. When he acquires Sting he is a more skilled fighter and when he gets the one ring he is able to disappear and build invisible Lego structures. The game has a big map, rather than a single hub, allowing the player to move along different events where different characters asks the player to retain a specific material from a mission or exchange materials. Visiting locations are Bag End, Hobbiton, The Misty Mountains, Goblin-Town, Mirk-wood, Lake Town, Dol Guldur, Rivendell and The Lonely Mountain.
