U.S. Route 66; a Path into History
When you hear someone say “Route 66” what is the first thing that comes to mind? Maybe it's a clothing line. Maybe
it's a song...but what some may never think of is the historic route taken by many that migrated west in the early 1930's.
Along this route you can find a variety of historical sites and landmarks that give a glimpse into the past of
midwestern and western United States. One of those sites is known as the Route 66 Village. This is located in Tulsa,
Oklahoma. Visitors can enjoy a look into the past while learning about the famous Red Fork Centennial Oil Derrick, viewing
several railroad cars, and a Frisco Meteor 4500 steam engine!
Visitors have expressed their enjoyment and fascina on with the Route 66 Village, with statements like “It's a great
place to take the family,” and “it just keeps ge ng be er.” So, remember, Route 66 is more than a song, and much more than
a clothing line. It's a part of the history of our beau ful country.
