analysis was “When you wake up do you
immediately grab your phone? If yes
why?” 9 people answered no and 12
people answered yes, the reasons varied.
Some of them wanted to see the
notifications that they received or some
others because they have a snapchat
streak.
After analyzing the information, we
believe that the majority of people that
were interviewed have a strong necessity
for social media, given that almost every
single person had at least one source of
social media that they used daily in an
average of 2 hours a day and often stayed
up late to look through social media for a
couple of hours before going to bed which
meant it interfered with their sleeping
schedule. Some admitted that the very
first thing they did when waking up is grab
their phone to look at their notification
from social media. This clearly shows how
apparently social media controls us in
many ways that we don't realize and how
it has a negative impact in our lives.
Looking at these results it is as if our lives
revolved around social media instead of
what really matters. Social media is all
around the world affecting us in different
ways but mostly, negatively.
We could conclude that the misuse of
social media can cause and impact on a
daily life basis of an individual, arranging
from a simple consequence such as a
distraction, to more severe ones such as
addictions. Furthermore, social media can
be a problem in terms of privacy and
security, increasing the cases of
cyberbullying and harassment if the
person does not know how to handle the
problem properly. Overall, social media
can be a useful tool to communication
purposes, but the individual needs have
the correct knowledge in order to know
how to benefit from it instead of making a
mistake that could lead to negative
impacts.
