Before joining, you think of it as a dream; after joining you wonder why was it your dream; and while leaving, you want more this dream; yes, that is GNITS.
I was from a Convent School where the environment was very strict but we had a lot of exposure to various aspects of self-development. Then Sri Chaitanya happened; about which I needn’ t tell anything. After being in these two drastically different academic institutions, I was skeptical how GNITS would be to me. If I have to define the past four years here, I, d tell that it has been the last stroke to sharpen a sword and like the final touch to the icing on cake. Might appear little exaggerated but it did make a lot of things better in my academic life and boosted up my morale to be the „ initiator; reasons being the several platforms available as opportunities and the encouraging environment. Another fact about GNITS that I considered an advantage was it being a women’ s college, the opportunities to take up big challenges were higher and therefore boosted up my skills in the ones I volunteered to take up. Since second year, I’ ve been leading „ Telestorm, the technical club of ETM department. It required me to be a good speaker, organizer, motivator and un-biased person to conduct different events every week. The amount of improvement at a personal level is massive and all thanks to the opportunity. I presented a couple of papers and I realized it all zeroed down to nothing because I uttered what I barely had any clue about. After attending workshops, seminars given by dignitaries, debates and participating in hardware design projects, I realized they helped me more. I also got an opportunity to be a part of Technology Entrepreneurship Program by ISB and it was one of the right choices I’ d made at GNITS. I had also organized an „ idea-based event during technical fest at GNITS which was new of its kind.
Something that I always found solace in was writing. It began when I came across a book titled „ Unposted Letter by T. T. Rangarajan, the founder of whats now known as „ infinitheism. The book beholds the power of transforming anyones life, just like it did mine. It was never looking back from then. Quotes and inspirational thoughts became like an extended self of mine and if there is someone who’ s words never fail to fascinate me every single time, it would be the 13th century Persian writer, Jalal addin Rumi. In one of his quotes he mentions,“ Everyone has been made for some particular work and the desire for that work has been put in every heart.” It fills a lot of hope in me when I recall these words when I’ m at my lowest. Being a part of GNITS gave me easy chances to get a job. But hailing from an Electronics background, I aim to continue in the same field and thus, I plan to appear for GATE examination. I also plan to attempt the AFCAT exam to join the Indian Air Force and a couple of other exams where I have chances to apply for job as an Electronics Engineer. Besides these career choices, I aspire to continue fuelling my core hobbies of writing, gardening and cooking. For all the people reading this, especially the ones younger to me, my only word of suggestion is that when you’ re struggling in those moods when you lose hope in life or you don’ t know what you’ ll become, remember, that everyone has been made for some specific work and the desire for that work has been put in every heart. You only should continue doing what you should be doing without giving up. Just like how you are seeking your dream, your dream is seeking you. I bet that if you put enough faith and focus at the right time and right thing for you, happiness and career would not be two different things from then on. Good luck to all of you, for living a life less ordinary.
