FROM THE STUDENTS
ENGINEERS VS EMPLOYABILITY

FROM THE STUDENTS

We know that there a lot many graduates from the background of engineering than from any other course . There will surely be various ways of filtering out the best by the employers . In a way this might decrease the percentage of employment but is the only option left for such a huge number . No one can ensnare the person with right character and persistence based academic results . Thus , it solely depends on the individual to stand out of the crowd if willing to contribute or do their bit for the nation . -Shreya Nalla ECE-C 3 / 4
We find 80 % of engineering graduates unemployed and one big reason for this according to me is the traditional obsession Indian parents have with engineering . Earning an engineering degree for the sake of settlement will not give the skill set to be employed in your respective field , specially keeping in mind the outdated syllabus we are forced to learn .

Despite of the educational institutions ’ endeavor to make their students fit for the industry , companies are still complaining that they fail to find the needed skill and talent . In order to overcome this , there is a need to change the syllabus in a job centric way . Friendly interaction between students and faculty is necessary too . Maximum effort should be made by students in understanding concepts in depth , developing communication and outgoing skills , having good practical knowledge rather than just focusing on percentage . Students should be aware about all the upcoming technologies and try to be as intellectual as possible .

The main factors behind the unemployability of engineering students is lack of ability of students ’ application of the concepts learnt , the rote learning method , lack of quality education , lack of innovation and research etc . Most of the students are attracted to software packages and do not concentrate on their discipline subjects resulting in half-baked engineers .

Students find that what they learnt is different from what projects they are given in industries . Their fundamentals are not strong enough to tackle the issues of present world . Due to this reason , not all engineering graduates posses the knowledge and talent to implement their theoretical knowledge , and industries find it difficult to separate the talented from bulk . -Chandhana CSE-C ( 2 / 4 ) 6
