There are hundreds of engineering colleges spread across the length and breadth of our country. But surprisingly the number of students being employed by IT Companies or any other companies for that matter are drastically less. A lot of engineering students are unemployed not just because they lack proper communication skills but also because of the fact that most of the engineering colleges in India aim at producing a great quantity of engineers each year rather than quality engineers. Apart from that, I think it also depends on the way a student prepares himself in his four years of engineering. Working and aiming towards the best, being goal oriented, having clarity of thought and an undying spirit will help a student in ways more than one. And irrespective of all the factors, once into engineering, it’ s always better to mould yourself in the best possible way in those four years and get ready to face the challenges of life.

India is one of the countries in the world that produces a hundred thousand engineers every year. Most of them choose engineering in India because it is believed that it is one of the attainable degrees that ensures a job on completion. But to get a lucrative career one needs certain skills, beginning with soft skills and a strong technical foundation. Now, when the question of employability arises, not everyone has the skills required for the job. On the other hand, many jobs are getting outsourced to India from all over the world. Alas! Not all of these jobs are chosen as they are not in accordance with the students’ requirement ' s. Best course of action to tackle this problem would be to ensure all your skills are up to par by practicing as much as you can.

Whenever a person says‘ Engineering’, the first word that comes to one ' s mind is‘ Competition’. In this fast-paced world, students not only have to concentrate on their studies but also the opportunities that they would have to make for themselves. Knowledge and Co-Curricular activities are not enough for employers to select a candidate these days. So, to put it in short, what the companies look for is turning into something more and more specific day-by-day. I feel, instead of going aimlessly into everything, we( students) must pursue our interests carefully, which would help us gain what the employers are looking for.
