SOWMYA NARALA CSE A 4 / 4
I am presently pursuing my final year in Computer Science. The four years that I spent in this college have been a great learning experience. I learnt many lessons for life through college and learnt how to survive in the real world. GNITS has helped me realize the worth of balancing academics with extracurricular activities and I tried to do this all through my engineering. Our college has given me the opportunity to hold a few positions of responsibility in the past four years- the class representative and placement coordinator of my section and website designer of our technical fest Ignium 2k16. I have grown from being a coordinator to the joint Secretary of ISTE. I was recruited as the Microsoft Student Partner for the year 2016. I had also been an active participant and award winner in multiple technical events like paper presentations, coding contests, project expos, etc. My family, school and college have helped me inculcate habits that made me what I am today and I am sure will help me in the future as well. A person I have always looked up to has been Steve Jobs. He is one of the most talented person I have ever seen. My goal is to be like him. My short-term goal is to gain some experience in the real-time industry and then pursue masters, after which I want to set up a firm of my own. Through this firm I would provide employment to some people in the society and also give back to the places that helped me grow in life. I would like to tell my juniors that it is very important to grab all the opportunities that come our way because I strongly believe that one opportunity gives rise to another. To get started, in the very first year of college itself nominate yourself for every post that needs to be filled because these roles of responsibility will greatly help you in the later stages. Also, I think it is very crucial to maintain a fine balance between academics and extracurricular activities because in our institution and various others, strong academics imply more opportunities.

Everything would have been the same if we didnt update ourselves with the latest technologies. Knowing the working behind these technologies became my passion and hence landed in taking Information Technology as my specialization. GNITS taught me how well we can connect these technologies to our daily life. It has laid a path in my life which helped me in identifying my strengths and weakness. Being the Class Representative for 3 years, I learnt the meaning of teamwork. Apart from consistently performing well in my academics, I have always been an active participant in all the events. I have presented papers on“ Biometrics” at IITH,“ Pervasive Computing” at MGIT and“ Vehicular Adhoc and Sensor Networks” at GNITS and won Second prize for it. I had won first place in Debugging contest conducted by MGIT and a cash prize of Rs. 1500 /- for securing first place in Poster Presentation on the topic“ Vehicular Networks” conducted by Vasavi College of Engineering. These presentations helped me improve my communication and interpersonal skills. I also pursued a certification course on IOS Application Development at Path Creators and my mini project titled“ Resume Builder” which provides its users with an easy way of creating professional resumes. I am also developing a website for my father’ s company, Aantic Pool Solutions. I believe that nothing can be achieved without working hard and I have learnt this lesson from my father who is an engineer and my role model. My parents are my constant support who always boosted up my confidence levels and helped me in facing the challenges of my life with courage. My HOD sir and all my faculty members always mentored me to choose the right path. I would like to implement what I have learnt till date and gain practical knowledge as a Software Developer. Later, I would like to pursue my Master’ s and Ph. D in Computer Science field. My advice to all juniors is to break the shell around them, accept challenges as they come and participate in as many events as possible. Try doing online courses that give you knowledge and help you to stay connected with the outside world.
