FY22 Key Performance Indicators
Arlington Water Utilities installed 8,704 new remotely read water meters in FY 2022 . Manufacturing and distribution challenges across the U . S . have impacted Arlington ’ s ability to obtain the number of remotely read meters required to meet the yearly goal of 10,000 installations .
The City had 4.3 sanitary sewer overflows per 100 miles of sewer main . Sanitary sewer overflows happen when wastewater discharges from the city ’ s system because of a broken main or clogged line . The goal is to have 6.5 or fewer overflows per 100 miles of main .
Another Arlington Water Utilities performance indicator started in FY 2021 and measures the average time that customers are without water during an emergency water main break . The goal is 4 hours or less . In FY 2021 , the average service interruption time was 3.4 hours . In FY 2022 , that average interruption time went down to 2.8 hours .

Crews cleaned 41.75 percent of the City ’ s public sewer mains ( size 6 ” -15 ”), clearing City sewer lines of roots , grease buildup and other debris . That equates to about 420 miles . Regular maintenance of sanitary sewer lines prevents sewer backups in neighborhoods or homes . Twenty percent is the goal .
City of Arlington civil engineers designed 32,020 feet of water and sewer mains in 2022 , saving the city $ 544,340 in design consultant costs . The goal is 30,000 feet .
The water department ’ s Water Resources Division ensured that 100 percent of high hazard backflow locations in Arlington were tested for safety . The goal is 100 percent .
Water Employees Give Back To The Community
Each year , Arlington Water Utilities employees donate to a local nonprofit during November and December . In the last few years , the department has focused its efforts on collecting toys for ACH Child and Family Services , which serves families all over Tarrant County . Our field operations division gathers the toys and delivers them .
