Natural Gas Well Preparedness Effort
The Arlington Fire Department conducted a comprehensive
table top exercise that included multiple City Departments and
Natural Gas Industry representatives. Three plausible
scenarios were used to identify emergency response and
agency coordination issues. It was a great learning and
planning experience for all involved.
Special Operations Swift Water Rescue Training
The Arlington Fire Department Swift
Water Rescue/Dive Team, in conjunction
with the Tarrant County College Fire
Training Center, hosted 267 AFD
members for Swift Water Awareness
training, which included Self Rescue
Skills. The practical and skills evaluations
were conducted at TCCD’s state of the art
swift water rescue training simulator. Through this training, emergency
responders were able to obtain the Swift Water Awareness
Certification through TCC.
Remodeling of Space Formerly Occupied by Resource
Management at 403 West Main to House AFD’s EOD
Canine Team Completed
A project started in late FY12 to renovate an area on the east end of
Fire Station #1 vacated by the Department’s Resource Management
Section was completed in FY2013. A total of 3,774 square feet of
space was remodeled to accommodate the EOD Canine Team. In
addition to dividing the space into offices, a kennel was included to
house the dogs during office hours. A total update of the plumbing,
electrical, heating, air conditioning and lighting systems included a
large natural gas emergency generator that would supply power to
the EOD Team’s space and Fire Station #1.
