AFD Recruitment Officer
In FY2011, the Arlington City Council authorized the Fire Department‘s request for a full-time
recruitment officer. This position is responsible for managing the Department‘s recruitment efforts,
facilitating the hiring process, and mentoring new members through their probationary period.
Fire Department Programs Recognized
City Management recognized City departments for
outstanding program efforts in 2011. The Fire Department received recognition for the following important
projects:
1. The Light Vehicle Response program also known
as the ―Squad‖ concept
2. The opening of ―new‖ Fire Station #9
3. The partnership with AISD and TCC for the Firefighter Academy for high school students
4. The latest PSA by the CPaRlington program
The AFD Mentoring Program
AFD will arm the next generation‘s leaders with the skills and
knowledge to be successful in the future. The AFD Mentoring
program will help new leaders know their department.
The focus of this program is to empower
new leaders with a broader understanding of the Arlington Fire Department and
to help them with critical decision making.
Their success will be our generation‘s
leadership legacy.
