CONSTRUCTION STARTS ON FIRE STATION NO. 8
Construction on the new Fire Station No. 8 in North Arlington began in January 2025. The more modern, more efficient voterapproved fire station will be a two-story, 10,000-square-foot facility. It will include three to four drive-through apparatus bays, dorm rooms for firefighters, a day room and kitchen. In addition to the emergency medical and fire suppression mission, fire station No. 8 houses the Arlington Fire Department’ s technical rescue team. They specialize in high angle rope rescue, trench rescue and building collapse rescue. They also focus on heavy duty vehicle and machinery extrications.
NEW FISHING PIER, PLAYGROUND, LAKE OVERLOOK AND MORE COMING TO RICHARD SIMPSON PARK
Big changes are coming to Richard Simpson Park at Lake Arlington. In October 2024, the City began work on voterapproved improvements, including a new fishing pier, a nature-themed playground and a picnic pavilion near the shore, landscaping and parking lot improvements, and a trail extension that will feature fitness equipment and a scenic lake overlook. The Richard Simpson Phase II project is set to be complete by summer 2025.

• The City of Arlington held its inaugural Community Impact Symposium in August 2024 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Community Development Block Grant( CDBG). Funds for CDBG help create viable neighborhoods by providing housing, suitable living environments and opportunities to expand economic development, primarily for low- and moderate- income residents.
• The Neighborhood Enhancement Team removed 10 tons( 21,660 pounds) of trash and debris during community cleanup events in 2024.
• The City of Arlington continues to invest in neighborhoods throughout The American Dream City in 2025, with the Arlington City Council approving $ 61,815 in new Neighborhood Matching Grants for four projects.
