TARRANT AREA FOOD BANK UNVEILS R . E . D . BUS
The Tarrant Area Food Bank , in partnership with the City of Arlington and Tom Thumb , unveiled its new Resources and Education Delivered ( R . E . D .) Bus in March 2022 . The bus provides community resource assistance , nutrition education and healthy food options to areas of Arlington with high levels of food insecurity . The R . E . D . Bus serves approximately 5,000 low-income residents and family members per month . The Tarrant Area Food Bank is working with the City to identify specific communities and neighborhoods based on income and food insecurity data .
ARLINGTON TOMORROW FOUNDATION CELEBRATES 15 YEARS OF GIVING
The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2022 . Since the nonprofit was founded in 2007 , the foundation has awarded nearly 500 grants totaling approximately $ 42 million to local charities and City departments who work each day to make Arlington vibrant and strong through educational and recreational opportunities , arts and culture , and social services .
During FY22 , the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation contributed more than $ 3.8 million through 26 grants to a variety of charitable causes across The American Dream City . Grants included :
• $ 90,000 for the Arlington Heritage Memorial Grounds Cemetery Project .
• $ 50,000 for Levitt Pavilion ’ s “ Share the Stage .”
• $ 1.25 million for Alliance for Children ’ s “ Rebuilding Lives ” capital campaign , which will expand Arlington ’ s Child Advocacy Center .
• $ 25,000 for Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County .
• $ 200,000 to the Arlington Life Shelter to help underwrite shelter services and programming .

Also in FY22

• The Arlington Animal Shelter installed a generator to provide essential power to keep the animals safe and comfortable and operations uninterrupted during outages . This generator was purchased through a $ 450,000 grant from the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation . ( pictured above )
• At the inaugural Community Court event , the Arlington Municipal Court helped residents resolve 338 unpaid Class C misdemeanor violations ,.
• Arlington Water Utilities introduced a new water utility assistance program for residents . Assistance may be paid up to the total amount due for payment in order to reconnect water service , avoid disconnection of water service or for a current bill .
