NEW FLOCK CAMERAS HELP POLICE SOLVE CRIMES
The Police Department reported immediate success with its Flock Safety Fixed LPR Camera System in 2022 . The City received the 25 cameras as part of a National Policing Institute Study . The department said it recovered at least 25 stolen vehicles valuing approximately $ 330,890 . In August , data from the Flock LPR cameras was used to solve a series of aggravated robberies in Arlington and the surrounding area . The department also reported that the cameras helped lead to the arrest of 37 offenders , seizure of four firearms and seizure of narcotics in 14 instances .
ARLINGTON FIRE DEPARTMENT ADDS MORE LIFE-SAVING DEVICES ACROSS CITY
To help even more people survive a heart attack , the Fire Department added innovative machines , known as LUCAS devices , to its medical tool kits . The halo-shaped device wraps around the patient , and a battery-operated suction cup attaches to the chest and provides consistent chest compressions . The department added 37 LUCAS devices , thanks to CARES Act funding .
CITY GAUGES PUBLIC HEALTH CONCERNS THROUGH NEW ONLINE SURVEYS
The Fire Department ’ s Public Health Unit conducted a series of online surveys through 2022 to identify chronic health concerns , gaps in health care access and opportunities for public education outreach in the city . More than 550 responses were collected through the online surveys , which were available in English , Spanish and Vietnamese .
