Enhance Regional Mobility

Mobility projects take on many different looks in Arlington , but the goal is always the same – to improve the lives of our residents . In FY20 , City crews completed a number of major street projects , including the largest rebuild in Arlington history . While building roads to the future , the City also invested in the cars that will take us there . These are just two innovative ways we continue to Enhance Regional Mobility .
Arlington Celebrates Completion of Abram Street Project
Residents , business owners and City leaders gathered in October 2020 to celebrate completion of the $ 50-million Abram Street Rebuild . The fourth and final section saw much-needed improvements through Downtown including an upgraded roadway , additional parking and enhanced landscaping . The project also made Abram Street more pedestrian-friendly with the addition of LED lighting and benches .
Via Continues Serving Customers with COVID-Safe Rides
The COVID-19 pandemic forced businesses and services to adapt quickly , to put customers ’ safety first . Via rideshare responded with extensive health measures to protect both riders and drivers . Everyone on board was required to wear a mask and complete a wellness check when booking a ride or starting a shift . Via also increased vehicle cleanings . The changes allowed the community to continue essential tasks safely .
Via Service Area Expands
Arlington ’ s Via rideshare service area grew again in January 2020 , extending to the southeast city limits . The expansion opened new opportunities for the community , with Via now serving the Tarrant County College Southeast Campus and the Park-and-Ride lot at Interstate 20 and Park Springs Boulevard .
