TxDOT Completes Reconstruction of Cooper Street
The Texas Department of Transportation ( TxDOT ) completed its $ 5.3-million reconstruction project on Farm-to-Market 157 / Cooper Street from I-20 to Mitchell Street in 2016 .
The 3.8-mile project , which improved mobility and safety , consisted of the milling and repair of the existing surface , a new asphalt overlay , sidewalks , driveway reconstruction and new traffic signals . It also included the installation of raised curb medians from
Arkansas Lane to Mitchell Street . TxDOT has previously worked with Arlington to improve the safety of motorists through the installation of raised curb medians .

Street Maintenance Creates Smoother Ride on Green Oaks , Little Road
Work to create a smoother ride for drivers on sections of Green Oaks Boulevard and Little Road in southwest Arlington was just a small portion of the $ 12.6-million the City invested in street maintenance projects in 2016 . The repair work , which included milling off the existing road surface , repairing failed sections of concrete paving underneath , and laying down a new two-inch asphalt overlay road surface , improved stretches of Green Oaks Boulevard between Little Road and I-20 and Little Road between Pleasant Ridge Road to I-20 .
Further north , the City completed the first phase of street maintenance work on Green Oaks Boulevard between Pioneer Parkway and Arkansas Lane , which included installation of new sidewalk ramps .
Both projects together cost an estimated $ 4.7 million , about $ 1 million less than originally projected . The repairs were funded through the voter-approved Street Maintenance Sales Tax Fund .
