In October, the Greater Fort Worth
Builders Association recognized
Arlington with its City Community
Spotlight Award. The award highlights
cities that think creatively to solve
problems to community challenges.
City Manager Trey Yelverton noted
that the award speaks to Arlington’s
effort to encourage investment
that creates positive growth and
development.
Officer Barry Samples of the
Arlington Police Department was a
recipient of the Extra Mile Award from
First Rate, Inc. The software company
partners with Arlington Alliance for
Youth to celebrate those who work
with youth in our community. Officer
Samples is a school resource officer
and volunteers his time as an advisor
to Explorer Post 602.
The MetroArlington Express (MAX) received a Special Recognition Award from
the Midwest Section of the Texas American Planning Association. The award
highlights outstanding planning efforts, innovative projects, best practices and
examples of planning leadership, advocacy and education.

TAMI
Award
The Office of Communication’s
work was recognized statewide
and nationally in 2014. At its annual
conference, the Texas Association
of Municipal Information Officers
(TAMIO) presented Arlington with
its Award of Excellence for a public
service announcement for the City’s
MetroArlington Express and its
highest honor, a TAMI Award, for
the City’s annual budget video. The
annual budget video also earned a
Silver Circle award from 3CMA, the
national association for municipal
communicators.
Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck
accepted the Outstanding
Achievement Award in
the 2014 City Livability
Awards Program during the
U.S. Mayors’ 82nd Annual
Meeting in Dallas. The award
recognized the creative
programs offered through
Arlington’s Animal Services,
including the department’s
Responsible Pet Ownership
Program.
