Membership Committee Happenings
A
huge THANK YOU to all members who completed the FWYC Survey! We
had 116 online surveys and 97 printed surveys completed, for a total of 213.
Seventy percent of the membership responded to the survey which is the best we
have ever done. The Membership Committee had an “opening party” on September
26 to register the member numbers for the drawing and open all of the printed sur-
veys. We have the email addresses for all members who complete the online survey
and those will be entered in the drawing as well. The email addresses are not linked
to any individual survey. The drawing for the $100 Club Credit for those who com-
pleted the survey will be on Friday, October 6. You do not have to be present to win, but come on down to the Club and
participate in the First Friday festivities, you may be the lucky winner!
A survey report will be presented at the October Board meeting and published in the
November Letter Log. These results will be used to make improvements to our Club.
Also, kudos to the new members and the established members who attended the Pasta
Bar / New Member 636 Event. Everyone who attended the event raved about the food,
camaraderie, and chance to meet new members. It proved to be a fun, relaxed evening of
mingling with other FWYC members. Congratulations to Barbara MacPike, who won
the $50 Club Credit drawing. This monetary incentive, plus a coupon for new members
to enjoy the Pasta Bar at a discount, was donated by a club member.
The Membership Committee as well as
other members of FWYC and ECSA con-
tinue to work on a proposal to have a Sail-
ing Director for the Summer of 2018. In viewing only the online survey results,
72% of FWYC members are in favor of hiring a Waterfront Director/Sailing
Instructor for the summer months. It will be interesting to see all of the survey
results on this question. With additional funding outside of what FWYC would
contribute, this position could possibly be expanded to a year-round position.
Many GYA clubs and FCYC clubs have a full time sailing instructor who has
become an asset to their clubs. We hope to capitalize on the successes of these
clubs and avoid the pitfalls.
Through a donation to the Club by Life Member, Mary Harrison, the Ladies’
Room has a new addition. Ladies, check it out. Thanks, Mary!
As I wind down my third year on the Board and my second year as chairman of the Membership Committee, I would like to
announce my candidacy for FWYC Commodore for 2018.
