In February, the Membership Committee had a terrific brainstorming session with four of our female members who have small children. These women all have full time jobs and are very interested in more“ kid friendly” activities and opportunities for young families at FWYC. There were also a couple of young men who attended as guests as well.
The members had some terrific ideas for things that would help families with children increase their enjoyment at the club. The first suggestion has already been implemented by Manager Eric Mattiza. Eric found some sturdy cups with lids for children. Other ideas include having the Castaway Room available if anyone wants to eat dinner in there, away from the crowd. Several members have eaten in the Castaway Room for Sunday Brunch, but it’ s available at other times as well. We discussed evening activities on the Brinckmann Pavilion for the young and young at heart on beautiful summer evenings. We just need to find a bartender who wouldn’ t mind the walk.
We won’ t list all of the initiatives here, they will be a work in progress. However, if you have small children and are interested in more activities for children at FWYC, contact the Membership Committee and let us know. If you do not have small children, but want to support this effort or if you just want to share an idea, email Membership as well.
In addition to increasing the value and fun of our existing young members, the committee is working on a Transitional Membership from ages 19 or 21 to age 36. These are ages when professionals are just starting their careers and many are starting families. We need to enable more young adults to become members early and then become full members at age 36, insuring a healthy future for FWYC. ~ Faye Black

We have some exciting news this month. First, I would like you all to know that we have auto-draft now available for you to pay your bills. This is an automatic bank draft that will save the fees for those of you that have credit cards on file. Please stop by the office for details and the forms needed to be filled out to set you up, if you are interested.
We have a couple of private parties this month. A wedding on the 4th and the Army Founder’ s Day dinner on the 18th. On the 19th, we will have the Mongolian BBQ, in conjunction with the fi- nal
Zevin race. Remember, that no brunch will be served on the 19th with the
Mongolian BBQ.
We have acquired a new cup for your little ones. It is a friendlier kid’ s cup that is sturdier and less likely to be crushed. We hope that any of you with small ones or younger grandkids enjoy this new addition.
Biggest news of all will be a change in dining services beginning on Tuesday April 4th. Starting that week, we will go to one menu for all service times( except Tuesday night bar food and Sunday Brunch). This menu is a consolidation of all the menus we currently have. We will be adding Thursday lunch service, and you will be able to order from the same menu in the lounge at any time. Yes, this includes Friday night! There have been a few things taken off of the menu for lack of ordering. We hope you like the fact of being able to order a pizza or a filet for lunch if you desire. Some items will be only served during lunch and will not be available during dinner, but overall we hope you embrace this change. Tuesday night bar food will remain the same.
Any time besides Tuesday night bar and Sunday Brunch, the full menu is available( except lunch-specific items).
I hope you all are excited to see this change and I look forward to seeing you this month at the club. Yes I will be cooking Mongolian BBQ again!!!
