Greetings from YOUR Rear Commodore
Here we are, already 2 months into the year. There have been several events in February for members to participate in. We had a fun filled Super Bowl party featuring a fine assortment of pot luck foods, giveaways courtesy of Mike Kelly( Beach Liquors) and a suspenseful game to watch. That was followed by a Valentine’ s Dinner with a fine menu and accompanying live dinner music. Kudos to Shari Seaton and her helpers: Jackie Chapman( desserts along with Shari), Cindy Barber, Wini Jimmerson and David Seaton.
Coming up( as I write this) will be a Mardi Gras celebration in the lounge on Feb 28 complete with red beans & rice, gumbo and king cake. Hope you got there! Also in March, is St. Patrick’ s Day on the 17th. Put on your best green garb and show your Irish side for a day. This is closely followed on Tuesday the 21st with our Sock Burning rites to burn those winter socks & usher in Spring. Bring socks to burn, get a fair weather blessing from the Flip Flop Fairy and bring donations for PAWS. Also, we are continuing to feature live music in the lounge on First Fridays. What a great opportunity to kick back after dinner and enjoy some dancing and interchange with other club members.
I want to thank those that have stepped up to help me this year. We have a strong and enthusiastic Entertainment Committee. Additionally, Dr. Lynne Reynolds continues to organize past records, data & photos to preserve our club history. P / C Skip Harrington provides a comprehensive orientation for our new members and Cindy Barber is doing a masterful job of keeping us informed of upcoming events.
So what’ s missing? YOU! Attendance has waned at our special events and even just evenings in the lounge. Is there something we could do better? Different offerings? Our committee is open to all suggestions. Help us out! We want to see you at the club – YOUR Club.
