THE JANUARY 2018 Cruisin Round the Bay may have had
less than ideal weather conditions, but still provided a great venue

to spend some time on our boats and get together with other Fort
W ith F riends
Walton Yacht Club members. On Saturday, after the skipper’s
near the E astern end of
meeting we participated in the 5K Walk for Will honoring the
C hoctawhatchee B ay
memory of Navy Seal Will Bushelle, son of P/C Bill Bushelle
and his wife Paula. Once we had our blood pumping, we took

off to Boggy Bayou and the marina behind The Dockside Bar and

Grill. There were pre-arranged slips and although things were

not quite as expected, the 3 participating boats were all quickly
safely tucked in and ready for socializing. Nine other members
joined the group for dinner in the restaurant and it was really
great enjoying the company of other club members in a casual
setting. The boats were all given a thorough fresh water rinse (it rained) after we were all back aboard
and ready for turning in. The timing could not have been better. Morning dawned foggy but we all
managed to find ways to enjoy the quiet beauty around us.
The February cruise is to Hogtown Bayou, just past 4-mile point beyond the Midbay Bridge on Feb-
ruary 10-11. This is a great anchoring area with numerous options depending on wind direction. We’ll
have the skipper’s meeting the morning of the 10th, then depart soon after since it is a bit of a jaunt for
sailors. The general plan is to raft up for appetizers and dinner, then see what the weather dictates.
