WOW Ladies Event a Huge Success!
Women on the Water kicked off 2014 with bang on Sunday, January 26th. With a
theme of New Year – New WOW the dining room at the club was filled with the ladies
of the club enjoying the afternoon and learning more about their club and each other.
The past hostesses of WOW planned and chaired the combination event in place of the
usual monthly luncheon and evening cocktail party. Lynne Reynolds facilitated,

The program featured five fascinating female members who shared their stories with
the group. Lynne Reynolds led off by telling about the origin of WOW and spoke
about the educational opportunities at the club. Faye Black told about her job as the
Letter Log editor and also about raising her family in the club. She shared some club
history and included her boating and racing experiences. June Scroggin represented
the new member segment and explained how she embraced the club activities as a way
of meeting people. Her enthusiasm for the club is contagious and refreshing. P/C
Phyllis Seaton talked about her time as the first (and only to date) Commodore of the
club. She also spoke about her extensive experience with racing and boating in general.

support and volunteers especially in the areas of yachting and club traditions.
We hope the ladies
who attended the New Year – New WOW came away
with a new appreciation for their role in the success
of the Fort Walton Yacht Club and a better
understanding of what WOW is all about. We look
forward to seeing them again each month at our
regular activities. WOW will return in February to the
normal schedule of a luncheon on the first Thursday
of the month and a cocktail party on the third
Thursday. This year’s hostess will rotate among the
past hostesses and volunteer members.
