FWYC Letter Log December 2019 | 页面 5

Letter Log December 2019 30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W Rear Commodore's Report Happy holidays fellow FWYCers! Chris and I just landed in Reno, Nevada to celebrate Thanksgiving with my parents and brother. Looking forward to celebrating the holiday and some quality time with my family. Thanksgiving always gets me to thinking about the past 11 months and looking forward to the New Year. This year, I just can’t believe we’re already here. It’s been a whirlwind adventure – from the Super Bowl, Fat Tuesday and St. Patty’s Day Parties to Friday Night Live Music, Karaoke Night and Family Movie Night. We had celebrations to honor our nation (Fourth of July), our heroes (Memorial Day and Labor Day) and our loved ones (Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day) with our family and friends. We also let our hair down and walked a little on the wild side. We Sock-Burned a Spring Festival, Steel-Drummed a Caribbean Party, Kentucky-Derbied Cinco De Mayo, Shivered-a-Timber a Pirate Party, SAILsticed the Summer Equinox, Mad-Hatted the Meigs Capdevielle Regatta, and wrapped it all up Flash- Backing to a “Total Awesome” Halloween Party! Oh, but we’re not done yet. Come out and celebrate this holiday season at FWYC. On Sunday, Dec 15, Tommy and the team will showcase “mad” cooking skills for the Eggnog Party. On Wednesday, Dec 18, David Vaughn will guide our boats for the annual Boat Parade while Lynne Reynolds and the Ladies of WOW host the Chili Cook-Off and adding a showing of the holiday movie, The Polar Express for the kids and young- at-heart. On Sunday, Dec 22, Santa will be visiting FWYC for a special Family Brunch. On Tue, Dec 31, we close out 2019 and launch into 2020 with the Commodore’s Ball. I hope all of you have the chance to make new friends and great memories over the next few weeks to guide you into the New Year. And, finally, my last Letter Log words. Many thanks to all of you for letting me be your Rear Commodore this year and for electing me to the Board for 2020-2021. Congratulations to our 2020 Officers - Craig Stoldt, Bob Fisher, Shari Seaton, Sam Grant - and my fellow Board Selectees! I’m looking forward to our new adventures together. See you around the club! Gina M. Gammick 2019 Rear Commodore, FWYC 5
