WOW – ANY FEMALE AIRMAN
PROJECT
“I am the new Donations Coordinator for my base's
chapel. I volunteered for this position and work these
responsibilities around my primary job. People from
all over (AF, Army, Navy, Marines, other countries'
military, etc.) use the chapel for our services, spiritual
growth, or to relax. Our living conditions range from
tents to trailers to dorms. Those living in tents and
trailers have to walk to the nearest restroom/shower.
Those living in the dorms have a restroom/shower
between two rooms. About half of the base personnel
have roommates. Our microwaves and refrigerators
run off 220 electricity. Not all the rooms have
microwaves/refrigerators, but the majority of offices
have them. We have three eating places available, with
one of them being 24/7. Non-perishable food items
are always handy when personnel can't get away.
Those living in the tents and trailers have access to a
laundry service, while those living in the dorms have
access to washers and dryers. Laundry soap, dryer
sheets, paper towels, and toilet paper are sometimes
in short supply to those living in the dorms. Other
items in short supply are personal hygiene, pens,
stationary, feminine hygiene, snacks, coffee, razors,
etc. Some personnel don't get much mail. Letters
from home are always appreciated and can help make
the days go by. It's amazing to see faces brighten
when they get a letter from home. It helps us all know
we aren't alone over here.”
