Jibin’ with the Juniors
The Juniors continue their presence on the
water despite hectic schedules off the water. High
School sailing is nearly over with the Great Oaks
Regatta on 22-24 November being the last hoorah.
We will have teams from all three Okaloosa County
Schools competing this year at the High School
Invitational Regatta at Southern Yacht Club. The
teams competed for the County Championship on 9
November with two teams in A fleet and three teams
in B fleet. Fort Walton Beach High School was
honored as overall champions!
Junior David Beaudry took first place in The
Summer Series of small boat racing here at FWYC.
David and several other Juniors were active
throughout the series and have already participated
in the first day of racing in The Frosty Nipple series.
In mid-October, 70 boats came together for the
Hospice Regatta on Lake Hartwell in South Carolina
and raised over $60,000. David Beaudry traveled
to Western Carolina Sailing Club, his club before
moving to Florida, to sail in a fleet of 15 Flying Scots
where he finished 2nd against some fierce
competitors and old friends.
Niceville High Sailor, Kelly Stukbauer was named
Bluewater Junior Sailor of the Year at their Awards
Banquet on 16 November. Kelly is a Junior
Associate Member here at FWYC. Congratulations
Kelly!
Check in with any of the Juniors you see after the
weekend of 22-24 November to see how things went
at Great Oaks and of course, we will update you, too!
The Juniors continue the Buy One Give One Food
Drive so the next time you come to the Club bring a
nonperishable item for the less fortunate in our area.
The donation box is next to the front door of the club.
