FWYC Letter Log August 2014 | Page 3

Page 3 The Commodore’s Corner Greetings: It is hard to believe it is August and we are two-thirds of our way through 2014. In a lot of ways, it really feels like it was just yesterday that I took my oath of office during the Change of Watch. What an adventurous year we have had! I am still holding to my commitment to F.U.N. Also, the Board has approved a temporary assessment to fund the replacement of the Club House Roof. The assessment will be levied in October of this year and has two payment options. A one-time payment of $165 may be made in October or members may choose to pay $15 per month for 12 months (totalling $180). The current roof is over 20 years old and needs to be replaced. Any excess funds left after the roof is replaced will be redistributed to the members. I hope each of you are continuing to enjoy your summer, and encourage those of you who are out on adventures to share your tales of travel and excitement with all of us. They have conducted themselves in a manner (both on and off the race course) that should make us all delighted to have them representing our club. This month we will be hosting the Paddle for the Promise which is a fundraising event for Covenant Hospice. This will be our 2nd time hosting the event and we expect to have a lot of guests on property on 9 August for this wonderful event. If you have time, please plan to come down, meet some new people and help to showcase our club. I truly believe in giving back to the community and Covenant Hospice is such a great organization to support. Lastly, I want to make sure everyone is aware of a couple of changes that the Board of Officers has recently approved. First, we have updated our Junior Member category to include member dependents over
