UPDATES LINKING THE CURRICULUM TO CAREERS Gatsby Benchmark 4 requires all teachers to link the curriculum to careers. To help schools achieve this without increasing the workload of their staff, we are creating videos featuring people from a range of sectors and organisations, talking about their roles, career journeys and the subjects they studied at school or university and explaining how these continue to help them in their day-to-day work. Content for each video will link closely with the curriculum so that any teacher can quickly search for a relevant video and drop it into a lesson as and when appropriate – whether they are teaching about earthquakes, Shakespeare or the French Revolution. Our videos are designed to engage young people and will involve the latest filming techniques, style and humour of the best YouTube vloggers. EASIER ENCOUNTERS WITH EMPLOYERS AND EMPLOYEES We understand that organising employer visits and taking students out of lessons can be disruptive. The third section of our site will allow employers and schools to produce online talks and interviews to be broadcast in assemblies or the classroom, helping you to meet Gatsby Benchmarks 5 and 7. We’ll also be hosting a number of regional roadshows around the UK where careers leaders and employers can meet to exchange ideas and information and make plans in person.
