Collaboration – Why?
As a teacher I believe it is my job to help your child build connections within their learning. These connections might be as simple as linking addition and subtraction as opposites, but it is becoming just as important that students learn to connect and work with others, within the school, community and beyond. Bower & Richards (2006) explain that collaborative learning has been shown to improve student outcomes and that students are able to learn more when working with peers by sharing ideas and observing other students thought processes, rather than working alone.
