Why are we going to be including more ICTs in 6H?

In 2008 Education Ministers convened and created the Melbourne Declaration of Educational Goals for Young Australians. During this session it was acknowledged that in a digital age young people need to be highly skilled in the use of ICT. When the Australian Curriculum Reporting Authority (ACARA) developed the Australian Curriculum it created an ICT general capability to ensure all students will engage and work with ICTs throughout each subject.

What does this mean?

Basically by the end of Year 6 students need to be able to

Create, design and develop work using ICTs

Communicate and collaborate with ICTs

Locate, retrieve and generate information using search

engines
