BRITISH SCIENCE WEEK 2021 Highlights
388 CHILDREN900 MINUTES
We delivered our new session 'Working with Whales' to 16 primary schools across Scotland, raising awareness of the incredible marine life found in Scottish waters and championing pathways into green careers. In total 388 children attended our online events.
Using platforms including Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams we talked to children for a total of 900 minutes during British Science Week. These sessions were flexible and content was led by the pupils, as they came prepared and enthusiastic with plenty of questions.

MOREOPPORTUNITIES
For 60% of the teachers we worked with, this was their first experience of welcoming a guest speaker to their class online. By trialing the online platforms prior to the event and providing IT support, we were able to reassure teachers and run the lessons smoothly.
We also offered special sessions for home educating families, with 22 families taking part from across the UK. In addition, 70 families have registered an interest in signing up for CREST Awards, taking part in a STEM project using our digital resources.
