CANADIAN HOME TRENDS & AMBASSADOR FINE CUSTOM HOMES INC. CANADIAN HOME TRENDS YOUR MOST RECENT DESIGN IN TORONTO AND THE CONTEMPORARY BUILD IN NORTH YORK (PART OF TORONTO) HAVE BEEN RECEIVING QUITE A BIT OF NOTORIETY. CAN YOU TELL US WHY? MICHAL J CERNY Both are amazing designs. They are two very different styles and yet both are getting a lot of attention. We design about sixty five percent of the homes that we build. We designed the Toronto home and the North York home was designed by a third party architect. CHT WE CAN TELL THAT THE LEVEL OF QUALITY FINISHES IS AT A HIGHER LEVEL THAN MOST HOMES; CONSISTENT WITH HOMES WE’VE SEEN YOU BUILD A DECADE AGO. DURING THESE CHALLENGING TIMES HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN THAT LEVEL OF QUALITY? MJC We only have one level of quality and that is near excellence. There is no such thing as perfect, but you can come close. So if near excellence is your baseline, it’s a matter of partnering up with the right type of client. We would rather build fewer homes than compromise on lesser quality. CHT THAT IS AN INTERESTING PERSPECTIVE. MOST OF THE TIME WE WOULD THINK THAT CLIENTS ARE THE ONES SHOPPING AROUND FOR BUILDERS. ARE YOU SAYING THAT YOU ALSO INTERVIEW CLIENTS TO SEE IF THEY FIT YOUR BUSINESS MODEL?
