News Charitable acts J ust before Christmas Hytek delivered more than 20 shopping bags of food and three large boxes of mixed goods as a surprise contribution to the Bishop Stortford food bank. “Hytek has always had a strong history of charity work, and we’re keen that it continues – it’s always spearheaded by the staff and we do everything we can to support their efforts, said Hytek’s managing director, Nicola Stamp. Members of Valero’s retail team recently joined forces with Co-op Texaco Thorne, Doncaster, to raise money for local charity, Pride of the Isle which helps improve the quality of life for people with life limiting illnesses. The eight Valero employees and Co-op staff spent five hours washing cars at Co-op’s Thorne site, raising over £300 for the charity. “Every year around Christmas, Valero employees based at our head office in London donate grocery items to a local food bank, so this was a great opportunity for our field-based employees to do something similar in one of our communities,” said Neil Freeman, national accounts manager at Valero. 6 Fuel Oil News | January 2019
