kinds of racism all over the place. Whether it’s
trying to let people know that you might have
something to offer as well.
It’s all those things that leads one to trying to
find yourself. FFM: So it’s obvious you’re very well traveled
and you’ve visited a lot of places. But, if you had
to situate yourself somewhere that you’ve never
been and always wanted to be... Where would
that somewhere be? And why?
All of my traveling has been about finding
myself. And while I’m trying to find myself, I
ended up collecting a bunch of elements. All
types of elements; whether it be me picking up
a few languages. Whether it’s actually having
to have the honor to meet Nelson Mandela and
others. JJL: Uh, you mean a place that I wanted to be
that I’ve never been yet?
Whether it is to do something that’s called
“dancing for dollars” in Italy. I got to the point
to where I’m in the states now and of course
it’s always easier to look at what I’m presenting
to people, but in reality the hustle is deep. It’s
really really deep.
FFM: Big Facts! Trust me when I tell you that
I feel you to the core. I’ve had to hustle my
entire life with no parents as well, and it’s much
deeper than anyone can ever explain... it’s
almost like it’s a REAL WAY OF LIFE - Either you
have it in you... or you just don’t! Because I’m
a real hustler & it’s in my blood - so I definitely
get it.
JJL: Yeah, Yeah,
Yeah! That’s
exactly it!
(laughs

FFM: Right.. If you had an option to go
anywhere. Where would it be?
JJL: I don’t know. You know, I’m one of those
that don’t have any preconceived ideas about
anything.
I go and I enjoy. So as far as I’m concerned,
I’ve been to many places. I’ve been to most
of the places that I wanted to go. And out of
those places; yeah, some of those are extremely
memorable. I’m talking about South Africa, I’m
talking about Rio.
But eventually, as a black man and as a Haitian;
I feel very good being in my own Country. That’s
probably where I feel the most complete.
Whether it’s in the Caribbean, whether
it’s in Haiti or whether it’s in Africa.
Most of the other places, ĺ’m just
adapting to a lifestyle, including
America.
